The People's Bank of China kept its main borrowing costs steady for the September cycle. The 1 year loan prime rate remains at 3.00% and the 5 year loan prime rate is 3.50%, extending the streak of unchanged benchmark lending rates to 16 months. These figures are unchanged from the levels recorded in August.
The central bank injected 32 billion yuan into the banking system via 7 day reverse repos at 1.40% to manage liquidity. This rate for short term funding is unchanged from the previous operation, as the PBOC provided a statement on the injection.
