NEWUK 30 Year Gilt Hits 6.029% Highest Level Since 1998

The U.S. 10 year Treasury yield climbed to 5.34% on Oct. 1 as Brent crude oil prices topped $100 a barrel. This move was part of a broad increase in sovereign debt yields across several major economies, which reached multi-decade highs on that date.

The U.K. 30 year gilt reached 6.029%, the highest level for that maturity since 1998, according to LSEG. The rise in bonds occurred across both the U.S. and U.K. markets alongside the surge in crude oil prices.
