Maintainers of open source software can now apply for one of twice as many grants through the renewed Codex for OSS initiative. Each award includes $100 Pro plans to facilitate the development of shared tools and software libraries. Previous recipients of the program's initial 5,000 grants are eligible to re-apply for the updated funding round.

The program's first 6 months of operation featured $160,000 in direct sponsorship via GitHub Sponsors and $600,000 given to the Rust Foundation as a platinum sponsor. This expansion to a total of 10,000 grants targets broader access for the open source community and continuous funding for projects used across the industry.
