The European Commission has placed ChatGPT, Reddit and Roblox under its strictest digital oversight after each service reached at least 45 million average monthly users in the EU. ChatGPT was designated a Very Large Online Search Engine, while Reddit and video game company Roblox were labeled Very Large Online Platforms under the Digital Services Act.

The companies have four months to implement measures to prevent the spread of illegal content, election interference, and risks to child safety. Non-compliance with the new transparency and risk mitigation requirements carries fines of up to 6% of global annual revenue.
