A new power-delivery technology from a major Chinese automaker targets the long durations required to refill electric vehicle batteries. Geely’s AI-powered charging system can bring a battery from 10% to 70% in under 5 minutes, a development the company says will intensify the overall industry race for faster recharge times.

The development directly challenges the market dominance of battery manufacturers CATL and BYD. By reducing the time needed for a partial charge, Geely aims to improve the utility of its electric vehicles and reduce the dependence on existing slower charging infrastructure.
