A Superion 256 quantum processor will be installed at the Accelerated Quantum Research Center in 2027 to facilitate joint research into hybrid quantum-GPU computing. The system will link directly to Nvidia's GB200 NVL72 via NVQLink and use CUDA-Q for workload orchestration, marking the first time a quantum processing unit will be located on-site. Researchers will focus on the application of these systems to materials science, computational chemistry for drug discovery and risk modeling for financial services.

IonQ introduced the Superion platform on September 8, 2026, and plans the first customer deliveries for 2027. The company says its roadmap targets the development of fault-tolerant systems with 10,000 qubits, supported by its SkyWater CMOS foundry capabilities. This collaboration serves as a strategic validation of tight GPU-QPU coupling and is a prototyping program rather than a driver of immediate commercial revenue.
