Volume production of the new server memory begins in the second half of 2027. The 512GB DDR5 module reaches speeds of 9,200 MT/s and allows a 24 slot server to host 12TB of total memory. This hardware uses more than 60% less power than a configuration of four 128GB modules.
AMD and Intel are validating the RDIMM technology to support AI workloads that require larger datasets to remain close to compute engines. Micron says the design targets memory bottlenecks in next-generation data centers, marking the first demonstration of a 512GB server module.
