Patients with Type 2 diabetes lost more weight using a dual-drug regimen than they did with the obesity medication Zepbound alone. A clinical trial for Eli Lilly's combination of the experimental drug eloralintide and Zepbound showed a 23.3% average weight reduction over roughly 11 months, while those on Zepbound alone saw a 14.8% loss.

Between 11% and 27% of participants stopped the combined therapy due to side effects, raising concerns regarding the drug's tolerability. The treatment also helped lower blood sugar levels, and Lilly plans to advance the combination into late-stage trials later this year.
