The US Census Bureau released annual data on household finances and insurance coverage for the 2025 period. The report shows the poverty rate fell to 10.2%, a 0.5% decrease from 2024 and the lowest measurement on record. Inflation adjusted median household income rose 2.6% to $87,460, hitting a new peak for the United States.

Income concentration increased among high earners, with the top 20% of households capturing 52.4% of all US income in 2025. This share has grown gradually over time in the annual report on income, poverty, and health insurance coverage. These figures provide the primary national benchmark for tracking economic distress and household wealth.
