A federal judge entered a permanent injunction on Monday requiring Missouri to utilize its 2025 redistricting lines in the 2026 midterms. The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that switching to a 2022 map after the August primary violated the U.S. Constitution by undermining voters' ability to participate in selecting congressional nominees under Article I, Section 2.

The court stayed the order until Sept. 28 at 5 p.m. CT to allow for Supreme Court review and the processing of ballots already dispatched under the 2022 layout. The mandated 2025 map creates a 7 Republican and 1 Democratic split for the state's congressional districts.
