Manjit Singh Bedi allegedly defrauded the U.S. government of at least $600,000 through a SNAP benefits scheme operating out of a Tacoma grocery store. The FBI captured Bedi in India after he spent nearly a year as a fugitive, marking the fifth individual on the FBI's "Most Wanted Fraudster" list arrested in three months. These five captures account for more than $2 billion in alleged fraud and nearly 4,000 combined days in hiding.

Bedi will be returned to the U.S. to face prosecution following coordination between the FBI and Indian authorities. The Justice Department's reach extends to every corner of the planet to ensure fraudsters are held accountable, said Assistant Attorney General McDonald. FBI Director Kash stated that the era of taking advantage of American taxpayers without consequence has ended.
