New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani stated that Benjamin Netanyahu faces arrest if he enters the city. Mamdani argued that the International Criminal Court's determination of who is worthy of arrest should be upheld so that no individual is above the law.

The mayor labeled Netanyahu a war criminal and an architect of a genocide of the Palestinian people in statements on September 22. He said that all persons must be held accountable for legal violations based on the criteria set by the ICC regardless of their political status.
