Susan Collins Leads Troy Jackson 49% to 46% in Maine Senate Poll

The incumbent Republican in Maine's US Senate race holds a slim advantage over her challenger in a new New York Times and Siena College survey. The poll, conducted from Sept. 15 to Sept. 22 among likely voters, puts Susan Collins at 49% and Democrat Troy Jackson at 46% in the contest for the seat.

Collins also leads Jackson among independent voters 51% to 45% and maintains a favorability rating of 51% compared to Jackson's 41%. While the incumbent maintains an edge in her state, the broader survey found 55% of respondents prefer Democratic control of the US Senate over Republican control at 43%.
