A White House antifraud task force is terminating the subsidies of about 750,000 individuals who the government believes are not entitled to Obamacare coverage. Vice President JD Vance announced the purge as part of a broader effort to verify eligibility for Affordable Care Act subsidies, a process that the administration claims will save $2.2 billion in taxpayer funds.

An additional 419,000 enrollees face verification checks to confirm their eligibility for the insurance program. Mehmet Oz, who leads the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, stated that some people are being removed because they have never filed a health insurance claim, while Vance said the government is applying an "extraordinary burden of proof" to avoid removing eligible participants.
