Schroyer was selected for the role less than 3 months ago and previously served on the security detail for DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin. Internal agency sources expressed surprise at the pick, citing a lack of experience in immigration enforcement or the management of large law enforcement organizations. The withdrawal follows additional pushback from some MAGA supporters.
