Doug Burgum is leading a reorganization of the National Park Service that transitions more than 400 sites to a "hub and spoke" management structure. All bureaus within the Interior Department are currently considering similar structural changes following an edict from leadership to overhaul agency operations and management models.

This plan marks the second major shakeup of the Interior Department under Burgum's leadership. Former superintendents, including the previous head of Glacier National Park, are currently evaluating the potential impact the reorganization will have on staffing and day-to-day site operations across the nation's protected lands.
