The Trump administration appears to have changed its America.gov chatbot “so that it no longer debunks Trump lies,” journalist Daniel Dale reported Wednesday, a day after the portal launched. The bot initially said Joe Biden won the 2020 election and later began declining some political questions. The New York Times had reported that its answers contradicted President Donald Trump’s false claims about election fraud and immigration.

Built by the National Design Studio under Joe Gebbia, the portal uses Gemini and Grok to answer questions using more than 29,000 official government websites, providing sources and next steps. Trump signed an executive order at Tuesday’s launch directing every federal agency to integrate its public services with the site as soon as possible. The initial version helps people find information and services, with passport renewals and Medicare enrollment planned as additions.
