European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced a joint project between the EU and Ukraine to develop a new missile defense architecture. This pan European missile defense system replaces the Patriot network to protect the region from aerial attacks. Von der Leyen also pledged humanitarian aid and the strengthening of energy infrastructure to assist Ukraine through its toughest winter of war. These resources combine with the new defense system to bolster the nation's overall air defense capabilities and protect critical power grids.
