Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that army and Shin Bet forces completed a strike against the Rafah Brigade of Hamas in southern Gaza. Palestinian media identified the deceased commander as Nael Abu Obeid, who is also known as Abu Atiya. Katz stated in a social media post that the leader was plotting attacks against Israeli troops.

This operation marks the fourth targeted assassination of a senior Palestinian figure by the Israeli military in the past week. The strike involved a joint intelligence effort between the Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet internal security service to eliminate the high ranking operative.
