Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz threatened Hamas and its regional backers on Tuesday that any capture of Israeli personnel or civilians would result in the forced removal of Gaza City's population. The warning targets Hamas and supporters ranging from Iran to Turkish President Erdogan, stating that the urban area will be treated similarly to Rafah and Beit Hanoun until any captives return. Katz cited "various intentions and intelligence" as the basis for the remarks delivered at a memorial ceremony in Jerusalem.

The proposed operation would displace more than 1 million residents to the south. Katz noted that Gaza City would be managed the same way as 70% of the Gaza Strip's territory was previously handled during military actions. This threat marks a specific escalation against Hamas and its partners to prevent further hostage events.
