Military planes from Islamabad targeted sites in the Kunar and Helmand provinces of the neighboring state on Sept. 30. Maulvi Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, reported that nine civilians died and 11 others were wounded during the raids, which involved at least two separate strikes.

The Pakistani government stated that its forces were targeting hideouts used by terrorist groups. The strikes in eastern and southern Afghanistan follow a period of heightened tensions between the two nations over cross-border security and the movement of militant factions.
