Ukraine is authorized to produce its own supply of Patriot air-defense systems after a recent meeting between President Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump. Trump gave final approval for the transfer of production licenses following discussions between the two leaders and their respective negotiating teams. This agreement arrives weeks after Trump had withdrawn a previous commitment to allow Kyiv to manufacture the interceptors.

The U.S. and Ukraine will return to review the outcomes of these talks in 10 days, during which time American officials will speak with Russia and Zelensky will brief European partners. The U.S. also proposed the United Arab Emirates as the venue for a technical level trilateral meeting between the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine. Separately, a Patriot missile package transfer was announced Thursday without specifying the originating country.
