1 Ukraine Hits 320,000 BPD Yaroslavl Plant Accounting for 5% of Russian Capacity ⚔️ War Sep 17, 2:45 AM EDT 56/25
Ukrainian drone strikes targeted the primary oil processing unit at a facility in the Yaroslavl region, sparking a fire in the industrial area on Thursday. The plant processes 320,000 BPD, representing approximately 5% of Russia's total refining capacity. These attacks aim to disrupt Russian diesel exports, which face a ban ending in October, while Governor Mikhail Yevrayev reported that emergency crews have since extinguished the blaze.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said the operation was a joint effort that also hit a military airfield in Rostov, damaging one An-12 aircraft, two An-26 transport planes, and three helicopters. This activity restores refinery attacks to a pace of 4 to 5 per week following a one week lull. Russia responded with overnight air strikes on Kyiv and Odesa that injured 18 people and damaged residential buildings.
