Fires broke out at the Kapotnya oil refinery in Moscow early Sunday following a Ukrainian drone raid on the Russian capital. Mayor Sergey Sobyanin confirmed a facility at the refinery was damaged, while air defenses intercepted 76 Ukrainian drones. Kapotnya is Moscow's largest refinery and provides 35% to 40% of the capital's fuel market. The site has been targeted multiple times since June 2026, including two raids that disabled primary crude processing units. Industry estimates for full repairs total $1 billion, and analysts project the plant will not be fully restored until 2027. Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces implied responsibility via a social media post, although no official claim was issued.
