Brigadier General Andriy Biletskyi led the 3rd Army Corps in a push that eliminated Russian control of the Shandryholove salient on September 7. The operation removed the threat of encirclement for the town of Lyman and alleviated pressure on the nearby hubs of Slovyansk and Borova. Ukrainian forces recaptured the villages of Shandryholove, Serednje, Zelena Dolnya, Derylove, and Novomykhailivka during the final stage of the advance.

The gain of approximately 151.88 km² follows a 4 month counter-offensive. Ukrainian units are now attempting to reach the Zherebets River by attacking the villages of Ivanivka and Terny, while some infantry groups have crossed into Luhansk Oblast to secure forest positions. This movement marks the total reversal of Russian offensive operations in the sector that spanned more than 1 year.
