The European Commission authorized a new funding tranche to secure air defense systems, drones, and electronic warfare equipment for Ukraine. The €6.1 billion package allows Kyiv to acquire US PAC 3 Patriot missiles through the Ukraine Support Loan and NATO’s PURL program. The Commission is processing a payout of €4.7 billion, following an initial €8.3 billion already disbursed.

The approved tranche provides the legal exemptions required to facilitate the procurement of US missile systems and other critical defense hardware. EU Commissioner Andrius Kubilius confirmed the package covers the costs for drones and missiles to counter Russian air attacks.
