French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed that soldiers, radars, and air-defense systems are being sent to Saudi Arabia to guard the port of Yanbu against further missile attacks. The terminal was exporting more than 5 million barrels of oil per day before being badly damaged by Houthi strikes, according to recent reports. French forces will protect the facility's infrastructure but will not participate in combat or engage directly in the ongoing conflict, though Macron did not rule out the future deployment of air force fighters.

The deployment follows a Houthi attack on Sept. 24, during which the Saudi-led coalition intercepted six ballistic missiles targeting Yanbu and Taif. The UK has also committed one RAF Voyager tanker aircraft to support the kingdom. These security measures come as Saudi Aramco informed European refiners last week that no crude shipments will be made next month because of a separate attack on the east-west pipeline.
