Saudi aircraft from the Khamis Mushait Air Base targeted military and civilian sites in Yemen's Taiz and Al-Jawf provinces on Sunday. Houthi military spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree stated that F-15 jets hit a market at the Mawiya intersection, leaving nearly 50 casualties including at least 7 deaths, before conducting four additional raids in the Khab wa al-Sha'af District. Saree warned that these operations would have consequences for the Saudi leadership, while local reports indicated many of the fatalities in Taiz were former Afghan security personnel.

The raids are part of a broader Saudi effort to block a Houthi offensive toward the Kahboub Mountains and the Bab al-Mandeb strait following the rebel seizure of Mocha. In Riyadh, authorities have shifted schools and colleges to remote learning for one week through Thursday. This abrupt closure was communicated to parents via email and follows the Sept. 26 interception of two drones launched by the Houthis toward the Saudi capital.
