A fire broke out on a commercial ship north of Khasab, Oman, on Monday after it was hit by anti-ship cruise missiles and drones launched from Iran's Qeshm Island. The vessel was an oil tanker transiting the US-backed southern Omani corridor under US escort at the time of the attack, Ambrey Intelligence reported. The number of casualties currently remains unknown.

The strike follows a series of events on Monday where Iranian state media described sounds of explosions near Qeshm Island as likely warning shots fired at ships violating shipping rules. State TV and the state-run news agency IRNA had initially reported that those noises came from the sea and caused no damage to the island's interior.
