A cargo vessel in the port of Chornomorsk was struck on September 18 during two separate Russian attacks reported by state news agencies. A secondary strike hit a postal logistics hub near Odesa, according to reports citing the Russian Defense Ministry. These operations targeted transit and communication infrastructure in the Odesa region to disrupt military and civilian supply lines.

The assaults follow recent attacks on maritime traffic, including a September 17 drone strike on the Turkish-owned M/V Mariam M in the Danube Delta. Turkish sources reported the captain and harbor pilot were killed with 13 injured, while Ukrainian sources stated the captain died and three crew were injured. On September 15, Russian forces also struck a tanker in Izmail and a ferry in Chornomorsk.
