A series of ballistic missile explosions struck Kyiv in the early hours of Tuesday, escalating a multi-day aerial offensive against the Ukrainian capital. These strikes followed a launder of drone attacks on Monday that killed 2 people and injured 26 others within the city. Across Ukraine, the Monday raids resulted in at least 10 deaths and over 80 injuries, targeting critical infrastructure including an oil terminal near the Polish border.

Monday's primary targets in central Kyiv included the Dobrobut private medical center and the National Academy of Sciences, where jet-powered drones sparked fires that forced employees to leap from windows. Leading political scientist Volodymyr Gorbulin was wounded in the attack on the Academy, which has conducted defense research on satellite and UAV systems for the military since 2014. Russia described the assaults as counterattacks against Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil and gas facilities.
