Saudi and other Gulf stocks fell Sunday after Yemen’s Houthis claimed missile and drone attacks on Riyadh and Aramco facilities in Yanbu, home to a major Red Sea oil export terminal. The group said Saturday it targeted “sensitive sites” in the Saudi capital with ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones.

An Aramco fuel tank near Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport caught fire Saturday, and flights were canceled or delayed. Saudi authorities issued two waves of danger alerts for Riyadh and Al-Kharj before giving the all-clear. The Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted and destroyed a Houthi ballistic missile headed toward Riyadh and thwarted attacks on Bish, Taif, Farasan and Yanbu.

Turkey’s foreign minister signaled technical military support for Saudi Arabia under the Mecca Defense Alliance agreed last month, saying the kingdom may invoke the pact to receive support from Turkey and Pakistan. The US State Department urged Americans to reconsider travel to and through the Middle East, warning that the Saudi-Houthi conflict could “escalate rapidly” and disrupt flights.
