The defense ministry is seeking negotiations with Pyongyang to determine the details of a recent landmine attack that wounded three military personnel. Defense Minister Kang announced that the detonation in the Demilitarized Zone breached the peace agreement between the two nations after an investigation indicated the device was planted by North Korea.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff stated the mines were likely placed over a year ago during North Korea's border fortification efforts, while the UN Command confirmed the devices were located south of the Military Demarcation Line. Seoul previously warned it would take corresponding measures and hold Pyongyang responsible for the incident, which left two soldiers severely injured.
