Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sought additional ballistic missile interceptors and Patriot Systems during a meeting with U.S. senators to protect critical infrastructure from winter strikes. The Ukrainian leader briefed the lawmakers on de-escalation proposals for a discussion with President Donald Trump, who added a meeting with Zelensky to his New York schedule for Tuesday. Zelensky credited the bipartisan passage of the Lindsey Graham sanctions bill as a necessary step toward achieving regional security.

French President Emmanuel Macron met with Zelensky in New York to discuss an energy ceasefire and a package of French radars and interceptors for delivery this winter. Ukraine plans to acquire more SAMP/T air defense systems and missiles via an EU loan while pursuing the FREYJA anti-ballistic project. Joint efforts to establish local production of these missiles in Ukraine are intended to yield first results this year.
