The VFA-41 "Black Aces" squadron arrived at NAS Lemoore on Oct. 1 after concluding its tour aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. One F/A-18F Super Hornet in the unit features a "Sub Buster" kill marking, indicating its involvement in destroying an unidentified Iranian submarine during Operation Epic Fury. The squadron expended 421 bombs and missiles against Iranian targets during the mission, at a total cost of approximately $43.6 million.

Munitions used by the squadron included 173 small precision bombs and 39 air-to-air missiles, along with numerous 2,000 pound and bunker-busting glide bombs. This total represents more than half of the munitions a full carrier strike group used against Houthi targets over a separate eight month period. The Pentagon has not yet released total spending for the full operation since the deployment began last year.
