Fighting has intensified in the southwestern region of Yemen after government troops encountered a series of large, simultaneous assaults from militia members on the evening of Sept 30. The Yemeni Armed Forces report that at least 30 members of Ansar Allah, commonly known as the Houthis, were killed and dozens more were wounded or captured during the clashes in Taiz province. Government sources also state that several field commanders were neutralized and military equipment was destroyed across various battlefronts.

The Houthis focused their offensive on Presidential Leadership Council forces specifically within the Bani Bakari area. Observers noted that the Ansar Allah militia utilized a Soviet T-62 (Obr. 1967) main battle tank during the operations, and the Yemeni military indicates that combat remains ongoing in the province.
