Nineteen personnel were swept off the boat Kaisar and into the water near Aktau during a landing maneuver on September 24. Nine members of the military have died and three were rescued, while search operations continue for the remaining seven who were lost in the current.

The accident occurred during the Khazar Qorgany-2026 naval exercise when weather conditions deteriorated suddenly. A similar incident at the same stretch of coastline in 2015 resulted in the deaths of four soldiers.
