Pakistani police detained Aleema Khan at her residence in Lahore on Sept 20. The sister of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan was taken into custody prior to a nationwide political mobilization organized by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

The arrest occurred before the PTI Long March scheduled for Sept 27, a party spokesperson in Punjab stated. Police conducted the operation at Khan's home in Lahore as the political party continues preparations for the scheduled nationwide protest.
