Five police officers and 11 civilians died after a blast tore through a mosque inside the police headquarters in the Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The attack occurred during Friday prayers, leaving more than 50 people wounded in the northwestern region of Pakistan.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif ordered an immediate investigation into the causes of the explosion and urgent medical care for the victims. Local police characterized the event as a suspected suicide bombing targeting the secure facility compound.
