A former member of the security detail for Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh attempted to orchestrate a large-scale terrorist offensive against Jewish populations across Europe last year. Security forces intercepted the lauch of the operation, which was described as a "huge" effort to target these communities throughout the continent.

The individual had previously been granted both asylum and full citizenship in the United Kingdom. This legal status provided the nationality and travel capabilities necessary to operate within Europe before authorities disrupted the planning and foiled the attacks.
