1 UK Police Correct Fairford Suspect’s Age to 25, Retract Second Interview 🌍 World Sep 26, 3:47 PM EDT 1076/140
British counterterrorism police corrected two details of Thursday’s RAF Fairford investigation update: the dual British-Iranian national arrested in Westminster is 25, not 27, and no second man was interviewed under caution, contrary to their earlier statement.
The man was arrested on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts, bringing the number arrested in the investigation to six. Officers searched two properties in Westminster. Vicki Evans, the senior national coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing, said investigators were examining multiple lines of inquiry, including possible foreign state involvement.
Five British men aged 23 to 25 were arrested near the Gloucestershire base on Sept. 27 after reports of three suspicious vehicles heading toward it. They remain under investigation on police bail with strict restrictions on their movements and contacts. Police recovered petrol from the vehicles but found no improvised explosive devices. RAF Fairford has been used by US bombers for operations against Iran.
