The European Commission named ChatGPT a Very Large Online Search Engine and designated Reddit and Roblox as Very Large Online Platforms. The three companies have four months to mitigate systemic risks to public security, elections, and minors under the Digital Services Act.

The designation applies to services with at least 45 million average monthly users in the EU. Tech chief Henna Virkkunen said the Commission will not hesitate to designate more platforms, as violations of the safety and transparency rules can lead to fines of up to 6% of global turnover.
