Iran Demands 7 US Commitments to Lift Strait of Hormuz Blockade
β–Ά

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the strategic shipping route will stay blockaded until Washington accepts terms relayed via mediators. The conditions for reopening the waterway, a critical corridor for global oil and gas, were conveyed Sunday as part of efforts to end the Middle East war. Ghalibaf, who is serving as the chief negotiator, stated that a return to an open strait is impossible until the US fulfills commitments under a peace deal signed in June.

Tehran has outlined seven specific demands to resume talks, while advocating for a strategy of simultaneous military action and diplomacy. General Abolfazl Shekarchi, spokesman for the Iranian Armed Forces, rejected a US Central Command claim that over 1 billion barrels of oil passed through the strait over the past two months, describing it as a failed psychological operation. President Masoud Pezeshkian is scheduled to attend the UN General Assembly in New York.
