1 Iran Hits 7 Hormuz Tankers in 5 Days Including Two Today 🛢️ Commodity Oct 2, 11:44 AM EDT 40/29
Two oil tankers were hit by projectiles in the Strait of Hormuz on Oct. 2, according to reports from the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) and Ambrey Intelligence. The strikes targeted one inbound and one outbound vessel, raising the total number of ships struck in the region to at least seven over the past five days. Several sources attributed the attacks to Iran, noting that the outbound vessel was under US escort in the southern Omani corridor when it was hit at 11:22 UTC.
The targeted outbound tanker suffered a power blackout and a small fire, which the crew extinguished before resuming the voyage with no reported casualties or environmental damage. Shipping analysts observed that while the frequency of attacks is accelerating, regional oil flows have not yet been notably depressed. The UKMTO has advised all vessels to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity.
