The Persian Gulf Shipowners Association alerted its members that charterers forcing vessels into unauthorized routes risk causing human and financial losses. The organization stated that ships failing to adhere to Tehran's prescribed shipping lanes would face severe restrictions on their future ability to transit the Strait of Hormuz.

This warning expands on threats from the Iranian Armed Forces that any vessel sailing outside sanctioned routes will not be safe. Military spokesman Shekarchi stated that US interference in the waterway would be met with a military response, while President Masoud Pezeshkian said the closure of the strait was a natural response to US sanctions. Pezeshkian added that the waterway would remain open for trade only if negotiations resolved the current dispute.
