Qatar Negotiates Long Term US LNG Imports After Iran War Cripples Exports

Supply disruptions caused by the war with Iran have forced Qatar to seek alternative sources of energy for its global clients. The Middle Eastern nation is in discussions to buy liquefied natural gas from US suppliers under long term agreements to fill the gap in its own export capacity, according to people familiar with the matter.

The conflict has compromised Qatar's ability to meet delivery quotas for its existing buyer base from its domestic production. These proposed deals would allow the state to secure fuel from US providers and redirect it to its customers to avoid shipment defaults during the ongoing regional war.
