QatarEnergy Negotiates US LNG Supply Through 2031 to Offset Iranian Attack DamageVGLNGWDS

The state-owned energy company of Qatar is pursuing multi-year US liquefied natural gas supply agreements ending in 2031 to replace capacity lost in March. The talks involve Venture Global, Cheniere, and Woodside to secure volume after Iranian strikes damaged two of 14 production trains at the Ras Laffan facility. A gas-to-liquids plant was also affected in the attacks.
Repairs to the Ras Laffan complex are estimated to take 3 to 5 years. This shift to long-term contracts follows earlier efforts to fulfill commitments to Asian customers using dozens of US spot cargoes to cover the continuing production shortfall.
