The fire resulting from a gas pipeline rupture near Damascus has been extinguished, though the Tishreen, Deir Ali and Nasiriyah power plants remain offline. Syria's state news agency SANA reported that the disruption of the common gas feed required for all three facilities has forced the electricity company to continue power rationing across the country until repairs are completed. Tishreen serves as the largest thermal station in southern Syria.

The outage is the second failure of a Syrian gas pipeline in two days, following a hit on the Shoula-Deir ez-Zor line that cut fuel to the Jbeissa plant. While Syrian officials have officially labeled the events as explosions, some intelligence sources allege that Iran's IRGC was responsible for the strike near the capital. This pipeline was previously targeted in 2021, adding to a documented pattern of sabotage against the nation's energy grid.
