President Donald Trump confirmed Saturday he rejected Iran's seven-day roadmap to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, saying Tehran wants a deal because "the money isn't coming in" under the American naval blockade. The plan, delivered through Qatari mediators, called for the US to lift its naval blockade, release at least $12 billion in frozen Iranian assets, waive oil sanctions and observe a regional ceasefire, with Iran reopening the strait on the seventh day and then restarting nuclear talks.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump has told aides he expects to resume bombing Iran after the November midterm elections and is skeptical Tehran would meet his demands. A US official said tanker traffic through Hormuz has lessened the urgency of a deal, with about 60 million barrels passing through the waterway in the past 72 hours, and US negotiators told Iran it does not control the strait and cannot set conditions for its reopening.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran has seen Trump's initial reaction but is still awaiting Washington's definitive response through mediators, maintaining that a negotiated solution is the only way to end the deadlock. President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran "no longer trusts talks with Washington" after previous negotiations were followed by US attacks and sanctions.
