The development follows claims by President Masoud Pezeshkian that Iran no longer trusts the US as a negotiating partner. Pezeshkian told Al Jazeera that past negotiations were consistently followed by American military strikes and increased sanctions, questioning whether the US would honor future written commitments. Despite this distrust, Iran continues to use regional channels to communicate a phased proposal intended to prevent further regional unrest.
